Golden Lions tabbed as Black College National Champions

SANTA CLARITA, Cal. (AMERICAN SPORTS WIRE) -- In its final Black College poll of the year, American Sports Wire ranked the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff as number one.

UAPB finished the season with a 10-2 record. The school received 33 first place votes and 167 points in the final poll of the year.

The Golden Lions won their first HBCU football national championship and their first outright SWAC titlle since 1966.

The 10-win season is the first in school history. It's also the most wins in one season for head coach Monte Coleman.

The American Sports Wire Poll is compiled by Dick Simpson, a member of the SCSBA.
