Nevada Approves three more Gaming Licenses | Online Gambling ...

The Nevada Gaming Commission approved three more online gaming licenses late last week. The licenses were issued to Station Casinos, Boyd Gaming and the Golden Nugget. The Nevada Gaming Control Board had given these companies initial approval back on October 3.

Bob Boughner is the senior vice president of Boyd. Boughner said that Boyd is proud to have received the honor of offering online poker to Nevada residents. He said that online poker will benefit the state?s economy. Many casinos are concerned that online poker will threaten their businesses. Boughner said their concerns are unwarranted.

He said that online poker will actually help grow Nevada?s gaming industry. Boughner claims that bringing poker to consumers? homes could double the size of the gaming industry in Nevada.

Boyd?s new online gaming license may be very beneficial to the company. The company has been building a new resort in Las Vegas. However, the firm has been forced to delay construction for a variety of reasons. Some reporters believe Boyd may need to diversify in online gaming to protect its future revenues. Boughner has said that the company may be facing a major setback as Goldman Sachs is foreclosing on a number of properties in the Las Vegas Strip. The ongoing economic challenges in the area are making it impossible for Boyd to resume construction of its new resort.

The state?s gaming regulator has now issued licenses to twelve gaming companies. Nevada?s gaming industry is setting the framework for online gaming in the United States. Nevada is the home to many of the biggest gaming firms in the country and the first state to issue online gaming licenses. Gaming firms in other states will likely contract Nevada gaming developers to help launch their own intrastate online poker campaigns.
